The new street signs in Forest Hills are a great improvement and are part of an effort to brand the City. You may have noticed the tree logo with hills in the background on each sign. This fits the character of Forest Hills, and the luminescence makes the street signs easier to read.
The City plans to construct another large stone gateway at the intersection of Hillsboro Road and Harding Place, consistent with the design of the recently constructed gateway at Hillsboro Road and Old Hickory Boulevard. Also, the City plans to construct stone columns of similar design at various other entryways into Forest Hills. All of these things will help pull together the City into a recognizable and cohesive community.
In the late summer or early fall, the City will present a Green Community framework for public comment. Forest Hills has engaged a consulting firm to develop this plan in order to provide the City with guidance in how to preserve the unique natural character of Forest Hills. The plan will touch upon a broad array of open space protection and land development issues, all with an eye towards protecting and enhancing property values.
